Come take a class from a Judy Niemeyer certified teacher. Learn the fun way to paper piece. Judy's patterns don't have bias edges on the outside and Lucille promises everything will fit perfectly. You will become addicted to this method. Patten from Judy's site is $20.00 and includes the foundation paper.
This is my favorite pattern which consists of nine patches and squares set on point and blooming by combining multiple fabrics. I will have handouts for different sizes as well as hints for speedy execution of this pattern.
Book required: TRADITIONS with a TWIST
Cheerful, funky birds quilt is my adaptation of another pattern. We will work on piecing six birds on Day 1, but you can easily add more bird blocks later. (My quilt has 12 blocks.) On Day 2 we will work on the flowers, leaves, and vine appliqués which can be done by hand or machine. (Mine is all done by machine.) How much applique you do is up to you! Blocks can be set block to block or with sashing. Several different block sets and appliqué techniques will be covered in class. Big Stitch Quilting will also be covered for finishing your quilt.
Advanced beginner to advanced. Pattern $10.00 in class (plus S&H if ordered in advance)
This quilt is made with 2 1/2" strips. It can be made with the Stonehenge fabrics, batiks or scraps. In order to make the points perfect, the easy angle and companion angle rulers are required. If you took Sue's class last year, you already have these rulers! They also make easy 1/2 square triangles and flying geese. Pattern is $9.50 Easy angle $11.40 Companion $12.50. These rulers will become your new Best Friends!
On day one we would learn to do a Y seam. I would provide a kit for a practice block. ($4.00). Then each student would cut into their own fabric to make these 27" blocks. 4 blocks would easily make the top of a bed. Students might want a book, but it is optional. You will need a fast 2 cut ruler. $24.95.
